International "Giuseppe Sciacca" Award "GIUSEPPE SCIACCA"
The International Association of Culture and Voluntary Work “Uomo e Società”, creator of the Sciacca Award, means to interpret the voice of each human being whose supernatural dignity is sometimes unrecognized and violated. The Presidency of the International “Giuseppe Sciacca Awards” means to indicate the figure of Giuseppe Sciacca as an example for the young generations, especially in our present age, marked unfortunately by a strong identity crisis among the youth. Giuseppe Sciacca (Rome 12.08.1960 - 21.09.1986 †) was a student of architecture whom, during his short life, gave evidence of a strong moral integrity and a great generosity towards the others. He prematurely passed away by an accident (parachute failure) occurred during the festival in honour of Our Blessed Lady of the Divine Love, in the sky above this venerated Roman Sanctuary. What has been said aims at being the inspiring reason of the International “Giuseppe Sciacca” Award, along with the message to send through its development.

Giuseppe Sciacca
(Rome 12.81960 - 21.9.1986†)
Student of architecture and parachutist, Giuseppe Sciacca combined his high devotion to the best traditions of his homeland with a true example of goodness and generosity toward the others. His premature death caused by an accident (parachute failure), during the celebrations for Our Lady of Divine Love, in the sky over this venerated roman Sanctuary, reminds us feelings of pity for his young life broken, and it makes us reflect over the mystery of life and death, opening the hearth to the reassuring hope for the future immortality.Braces' Bank Giuseppe Sciacca Orthopedic “Braces’Bank”
The Association “Uomo e Società” and Sciacca Award have strengthened a special bound with Poland through the foundation of the Giuseppe Sciacca Orthopedic “Braces’Bank”, in cooperation with the City of Kielce and thanks to the generosity of the Emilian Orthopedic Centre (Reggio Emilia). Nowadays the Giuseppe Sciacca Orthopedic “Braces’Bank” is the only one body operating in that nation which grants orthopedic instruments for free to all those children suffering from spina bifida, an endemic disease that every year affects around 500 babies. Braces can radically change the lives of many children, as they are indispensable to walk.
